We are probably the only Company left in the UK who specialise in'roughing' and'smoothing' techniques using traditional stone cutting methods to achieve the extraordinary depth and brilliance associated with our products Hand made in the world famous crystal area of Stourbridge. Brierley hill crystal can now offer you a full range of English hand made crystal that will always be in stock or can be quickly made because our Artisans hand craft all of the crystal at our Brierley Hill Factory. Notes found on Google about Brierley Hill.
STUART WATERFORD BRIERLEY HILL CRYSTAL. Unfortunately the final decades of the 20th century saw the loss of the four major companies. In 1990 Thomas Webb and Sons closed and in 1995 Webb Corbett was closed by Royal Doulton. Royal Brierley Crystal went bankrupt and closed in 2000. A new works opened in 2002, Dartington Crystal acquired the company in 2006, but closed the works in 2007. In November 2001 the closure of Stuart Crystal was announced by the parent company Waterford Wedgwood, with the loss of 220 jobs. Today there are a handful of glassworks that remain in the area. Two of the the surviving factories specialise in cut crystal: Tudor Crystal and Brierley Hill Crystal. Contact them to enquire about visiting and watching the glassmakers at work.As well as these crystal companies, the Stourbridge glass industry retains some small traditional cut glass manufacturers. Plowden & Thompson, specialists in coloured and scientific glass, is the only glass factory still operating in an original glass cone site. The tradition of coloured glass is kept alive by a growing number of small glassmaking studios. Brierley Hill crystal provide hand cut crystal in a range of designs.
The box is obviously vintage but the glass is new and has never been unwrapped apart from the one in the photo. Please do not hesitate to message me if you need more photos or information. I try to describe all the items as accurately and as honestly as possible, and I always include photos or scans of the actual items. My items are usually vintage or antique, very rarely new, and condition will sometimes reflect this with minor marks, wear on gilding etc. Anything major such as cracks chips or major loss of gilding etc will be pointed out in the description and shown on the photos.
If you are still unsure as to the condition etc. I do my best to research the item and its history and pass that information on to my customers, you can google items and find the same information I do. Vintage or pre-owned items will often show some signs of wear due to their age, and there may be something I overlooked.
Any condition outside normal vintage wear, like chips or cracks or serious defaults, will be noted. PLEASE WAIT FOR A AMENDED INVOICE BEFORE PAYING OR THE SALE WILL BE CANCELLED.
