Pair of Laura Ashley Vintage Martha Ceramic Lidded Storage Jars

  

The price quoted is for the pair of storage jars as photographed. The storage jars each measure 19 cm in height and the diameter of each base is 12 cm.

Each storage jar has a creamy white background decorated with stencilled flowers and foliage on the front and back of the jar. The flowers are the colour and style of carnations and are very pretty. The lids of the storage jars are beautifully decorated in the style of sponge painting of flowers and foliage and this attractive design is repeated on the surface of the lid. The base of each storage jar is stamped with the words Exclusive to Laura Ashley, Hand Decorated and Dishwasher Safe. Made in Staffordshire, England this is followed by the date 1989.

Both storage jars are in lovely condition with no hairline or other cracks, nibbles, stains or fading. The lids fit the storage jars beautifully well and the bases sit solidly on a surface with no issues. There is no sign of any previous use. One jar has a tiny spot of the blue paint used to apply the spongeware decoration on its body.

This is under the glaze and shows the hand made nature of these really pretty storage jars. This item has had a previous life and may show signs of wear and tear commensurate with age.
