Crafted in high-quality teak, this highly desirable small compact sideboard reflects mid 20th century English designers and manufacturers taking inspiration from classic Danish/Scandinavian modern design, which is minimalist, functional, and clean-lined. Starting in London, they initially specialized in traditional bedroom suites before evolving into one of the largest furniture manufacturers in the UK by the 1960s. The company became known for adopting modern designs and was a pioneer in the UK market for flatpack, self-assembly bedroom furniture with systems like the Multiglide system. The company eventually closed in the late 1970s and early 1980s. In the 1960s, Austinsuite underwent a remarkable transformation. Accomplished designers like Frank Guille joined their ranks, propelling the company from tradition to modernity. They expanded beyond bedroom furniture, adding dining sets to their repertoire. Fitted wardrobes became a game-changer, reflecting the changing needs of homeowners.
