Vintage Arvin Retro Funky Drop Leaf Geometric Formica Metal Kitchen Dining Table

  

This is about as 50s as you can get, an absolute classic retro gem. With it's neutral classic black and white geometric top and simple black frame this is both classic 50s and highly practical. Bring true 1950s charm into your home with this wonderful vintage drop leaf kitchen table, manufactured by Arvin Industries as part of their sought-after modern living collection.

Arvin Industries was an American firm. This iconic design piece perfectly captures the mid century modern aesthetic, with a classic formica laminated top featuring a black geometric pattern on white black tubular steel legs.

Compact, practical, and stylish is ideal for retro kitchens dining nooks or small space living. The table is structurally solid and folds and unfolds correctly. Unfortunately one of the springs on the mechanism underneath has broken so when you lift one of the leafs up you need to just tap it gently into place, it really is no problem.

The formica surface is intact but shows authentic age-related wear to the surface, the side surfaces are well preserved. There is light overall discoloration and pattern of from age to the top surface as well as some minor surface scratches mottled yellowing and small cut marks visible under certain lighting there is also slight fading to parts of the black pattern enhancing its vintage character however the good news is there are no major cracks chips or laminates lifting.

The black metal frame has the original black paint on it which has worn in a number of places. You can leave as is, repaint or strip down to the gun metal underneath, which would look amazing and it seems to only have one coat of paint so this should be relatively simple. This is a very well made table and was built to last hence on the whole it is very well preserved and because it has the metal frame it is solid as a rock. Despite the wear to the top and the broken spring this is full of funky retro charm. Please refer to the photographs for a closer look at the details and view the overall condition.
