RETRO Vintage kitchen larder CUPBOARD CABINET PANTRY KITCHENETTE 1950's. Made by Barget Built of London (label inside drawer). Fabulous vintage kitchen cupboard, this retro 50s design has certainly taken its inspiration from American Cadillacs of the era, it has a fin-like top with an integral clock, and metal grille either side.

Rather like a car dashboard. From top; fall front larder/pastry shelf with small shelf inside. Two bow fronted drawers, one has divisions for cutlery.

Sliding doors to base also with a shelf. The cupboard retains its original pale yellow Formica and vinyl with sputnik / astral star design. Lovely hardware, metal door handles, again reminiscent of a vintage car. Super retro legs with metal tips. The cupboard has an undulating curvy silhouette, beautiful from all angles.

Condition is very good, one blister to the veneer pictured. I did remove some mis-matched modern sticky back plastic from the top surface, this has left some light surface marks and although I wiped it repeatedly it still very slightly sticky in parts. Formica drop down cupboard is paler than the vinyl covering on the drawers and doors.

Hinges are a little rusty but are strong; one of the bottom slide doors come off its runner so this will need repairing. The clock is by Westclox, it can be unscrewed and taken out when rocked side to side it ticks for a bit and then stops so would need to be repaired or perhaps the mechanism could be replaced with a battery operated one.

A lovely example which epitomises the 1950s period of design. Depth middle 14.5 inches. Height of fins 56 inches.
