Retro Coffee Table Smoked Glass Stainless Steel Erik Van Buijtenen Style Modern. A vintage circular coffee table with a smoked glass top and striking sculptural chrome look stainless steel base, offering a bold modernist look. The sweeping curved form and large cut-out sections give it an architectural feel, making it a great statement piece for a living room, lounge or contemporary interior. The table has a dark smoked glass circular top which sits onto the curved base. The table also has a second circular glass tier at the bottom, providing a useful lower shelf. This lower glass section is painted black to the underside, giving it an opaque appearance rather than being see-through like the smoked glass top. The base appears to be polished stainless metal, formed into a continuous circular design with large openings around the sides. The design is very much in the style of designers / makers such as Erik Van Buijtenen and Gallotti & Radice, although no maker's mark has been identified and we are not attributing it to any designer. Likely late 20th century, with a strong 1970s to 1980s modernist influence.

Unsure of the exact age, but more than happy to help with any further questions. In well used vintage condition with general signs of age and use. The smoked glass top has numerous surface scratches and marks throughout.

These are quite difficult to capture clearly in photographs due to the dark reflective glass, but are noticeable when viewed closely and under certain lighting. There are further scratches, scuffs, marks and areas of tarnishing or discolouration to the polished metal base and edging. Some dirt and residue are present within the recessed areas and around the glass supports. The black painted underside of the lower glass tier has some chips, marks and scratches to the finish. In places these allow light to show through the glass.

This is much less noticeable when the glass is fitted in place and is mainly apparent when the tier is removed or held up to the light. The table remains usable and makes a striking decorative statement despite the cosmetic wear.

Would benefit from a very good clean and polish. We have tried to capture all of these in the photos as best as possible, so please study these as a good indication of cosmetic condition. Collection is welcome from East Kirkby, Lincolnshire, or can be delivered for the advertised cost.
